In celebration of UAE Innovation Week, S P Jain School of Global Management, the Australian business school with campuses in Sydney, Mumbai, Singapore and Dubai, recently launched i2i – The Innovation & Insights Centre – a hub for research, education, and consulting in global innovation management.
With a mission to help people innovate and create insight, S P Jain does this in a collaborative fashion, providing a platform for users to see “eye to eye”. The i2i centre in Dubai is headed by Prof. Christopher Abraham, Head of S P Jain’s Dubai campus and Prof. of leadership & organizational behavior.
Dr. CJ Meadows, Director i2i – The Innovation & Insights Centre at S P Jain, said: “We’ve created the ‘redovate’ approach, in which we engage in research with our participants, while we educate them about innovation methods, tools, and techniques, and help them innovate for their own businesses — MNC, SME, or start-up. We seek not only to advance the theory & practice of innovation, but to do it in an innovative way, ourselves.”
In addition to the i2i centre, S P Jain’s new insight program, Design Thinking for Insight Innovation, aims to provide participants with valuable hands-on experience using design thinking, the concrete approach to innovation pioneered by the celebrated design consultancy, IDEO.
Design Thinking can help organizations of any size, in any country, in any industry create new products, services, systems — even organizational change. New initiatives are well received, faster, with lower risk, because they’re created with real-world observation and experiments, together with pertinent stakeholders.
Prof. Abraham conducted a workshop on Design Thinking for Insight Innovation during Innovation Week, which started on November 22, 2015. The workshop provided exposure to design thinking and key innovation concepts. Participants will came away with a real experience in design thinking as well as the concepts and tools to apply these principles to the business challenges of today.
Commenting on S P Jain’s i2i centre and Design Thinking program, Dr. Ayoub Kazim, Managing Director of Dubai Knowledge Village and Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) said: “I’m delighted that one of our most valued business partners is supporting Innovation Week with such energy and purpose. This shows that the innovative spirit is alive and well in the UAE education sector. We hope S P Jain inspires many more educators to help bridge the gap between academia and industry through innovation. This all helps in cementing Dubai’s reputation as international education hub, and ultimately fuels the growth of the wider UAE economy.”
