DIAC ACADEMIC PARTNER ESMOD DUBAI’S FASHION STUDENT WINS GOLD MEDAL AT EMIRATES SKILLS 2017 COMPETITION
On Thursday 13th April twenty year old Emirati undergraduate student of ESMOD Dubai, Hessa Al Shawab, was awarded a gold medal at the EmiratesSkills 2017 National Competition Pre Qualifications for Fashion Technology held in Abu Dhabi at ADNEC, achieving a result of 92% after completing 1 imposed blouse, a creative skirt, embellishments and technical drawings with the maximum time allowed being a total of ten hours.. Dr Maitha Al Shamsi Minister of State and Simon Bartley President of WorldSkills awarded the Gold Medal to Ms Al Shawab at the conclusive of the pre qualifications event.
Her success will see her join the UAE National Team competing in the Fashion Technology category at the international 44th WorldSkills 2017 in Abu Dhabi, putting her fashion design skills to the test on the global stage among competitors from over 75 different countries.
Esmod Dubai Ceo-Founder Tamara Hostal received the Achievement Trophee from Dr. Maitha Al Shamsi UAE Minister of State. Tamara Hostal commented: “we are extremely proud of Hessa’s impressive achievement and for the fact that ESMOD Dubai’s highest standards of fashion education in the UAE are being recognized by Worldskills Experts committee, and the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training ( ACTVET), created by the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Held every two years, the WorldSkills Competition is the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world that truly reflects global industry. Competitors represent the best of their peers and are selected from skill competitions in WorldSkills Member countries and regions. Most competitors are under the age of 23, and demonstrate technical abilities both individually and collectively to execute specific tasks for which they study and/or perform in their workplace.
ESMOD Dubai is this year proud to be represented by Ms Al Shawab at what will be the first WorldSkills Competition to ever be held in the Middle East, showcasing the value of skill development and raising the recognition of skilled professionals across the region. Under the expert tuition of her teachers acknowledged as some of the industry’s most highly qualified professionals, Ms Al Shawab has been trained over the three year Undergraduate Program to design and produce garments from A to Z, in a fully supported learning environment of unique and patented programs licensed by the KHDA in Dubai.
