Visa, an official sponsor of the FIFA Club World Cup, has teamed up with Dubai International Academic City (DIAC) to celebrate the arrival of the eagerly awaited football tournament in the UAE.
Students from DIAC participated in the celebrations by creating a unique piece of artwork by kicking paint covered sponge footballs onto a blank canvas.
Held on Monday the 14th December between 10.30am – 2.30pm at the DIAC University Campus, the initiative combined contemporary art with the much loved sport in the form of the ‘Go Fans Soccer Meets Art’ interactive media arts installation.
All participating students will be personally attributed for their input into the piece and can look forward to viewing what will be an enduring piece of art-work, as the unique creation is put on display in the fanzone at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2009 Final Stadium, Zayed Sports City.
Commenting on the interactive media arts installation, Norliza Kassim, Head of Regional Marketing, MENA, Visa, said: “Visa is immensely proud to have been so closely associated with the FIFA Club World Cup 2009. Through our partnership with DIAC, football as a sport will be etched into art history. We are delighted to be able to celebrate the arrival of this international FIFA tournament in such a distinctive way and create a lasting impression with students throughout the UAE.”
Dr Ayoub Kazim, Executive Director of Dubai International Academic City, said: “We feel privileged to enter into this alliance with VISA and offer our students the chance to celebrate the arrival of the FIFA Club World Cup tournament to the UAE in this distinctly different media arts installation. This innovative on-campus activity has allowed students to create an enduring piece of art that captures a unique blend of art and football, allowing student fans to express their creativity”.
