SMCCU - Cities of Light - Documentary Night
The world is at a crossroads. Exploring the vibrant history of Islamic Spain could not be more important as we confront the profound political, strategic, and ethical challenges that will determine issues of war and peace for generations to come. The history of Islamic Spain demonstrates that when religious diversity is accommodated within a social and political system, problems and tensions may still exist, but society is able to successfully manage them, generally to the benefit of all. But when a power system or religious movement rejects complexity and insists on a single cultural and religiously-centered point of view, then society is likely to come to grief with everyone losing something The history of Islamic Spain delivers this message with unprecedented power because it is a common history shared by both the Muslim East and the European West. The British University in Dubai - Open Lecture on Global Emerging Marketing: What is lying ahead in 2013?
The later part of the year 2012 has been completely hijacked by the US government’s initiatives to bring down the long term budget deficits and the mounting debt burden under control while avoiding the ‘Fiscal cliff’. The Euro Currency Area continues to struggle with no tangible signs of improvement in the near future. Many of the emerging economies exhibit promising trends both in production and employment growth. While the interest rates remain very low in most of the developing countries, the crude oil prices have been witnessing see-saw movements during the past three months. All these emerging developments have made impacts on the global stock and forex markets. The interesting part of the proposed lecture would be that Mr. Matein Khalid, who is an expert in these crucial areas, would give his valuable insights for capitalizing on the trends prevailing in the emerging markets by taking certain crucial investment decisions in both bullish and bearish markets. It’s undoubtedly an event worth attending.

Amity University: HR Panel Discussion on the topic “Building Sustainable Organizations through People, Processes and Practices”
Amity University Dubai is organising a HR Panel Discussion on the 29th of January 2013 on the topic “Building Sustainable Organizations through People, Processes and Practices”. The 21st century organizations are characterized by strategic change, technology, innovation and relentless competition spurred by the concept of building boundary- less organizations. To be sustainable in a global business environment, competitive advantage needs to be more deeply embedded in the organization- its resources, skills, culture and investment over time. What makes one company gain against competitors is a question to be answered much beyond the strategy making, implementation and control issues. A firm is rarely saved by serendipity but inevitably by putting people, process and practice together. It is indeed the HR deliverables that play a vital role for success of an organization.

Michigan State University in Dubai invites you to the launch of its Masters of Law (LL.M) and Masters of Jurisprudence (M.J) Programmes
Michigan State University in Dubai will begin an LL.M program in October 2012 at their campus in Knowledge village. Alongside this they will also run a Masters of Jurisprudence (M.J) program. These programs are intended for both those with a grounding in law as undergraduates and for those with non-legal backgrounds. The program focuses primarily on US law, but also has a more regional orientation than LL.Ms in the United States do. They will also be running a number of shorter graduate certificate programs in Sharia Law and International law to make it more applicable to the United Arab Emirates. Both programs are unparallelled anywhere else in the U.A.E or the G.C.C. in terms of academic rigor at a post-graduate level. All degrees conferred are of the same quality as those issued in the US, thus all students must meet the same academic requirements as students applying in the US. This program is the only English speaking post-graduate Law program of its kind within several thousand miles of the United Arab Emirates.
