Dubai, March 13, 2013: The UOWD campus will take on a carnival atmosphere on Thursday, March 14, as the University begins the celebrations to mark its 20th year in Dubai.
UOWD students, staff, alumni and the local community will come together to celebrate this momentous milestone in the institution’s history. The year 2013 marks the 20th year since the university’s establishment in Dubai and this event is the first of the gala celebrations to take place during the anniversary year.
A packed program of activities is lined up for the day, to celebrate UOWD’s 20 successful years of education and collaboration in the UAE. Live music, games and competitions will be accompanied by the customary Australian barbecue and traditional Arabic cuisine. Students will get the opportunity to show off their skills outside the classroom, as the ‘UOWD’s Got Talent’ competition returns to mark the occasion.
The event will be an opportunity for the whole UOWD community, their family and friends to join in the anniversary celebrations and to take part in fun activities that pay tribute to the University’s unique identity as the first Australian higher education institution in the Gulf region.
Since its establishment in 1993, UOWD has grown significantly from its original 8 students and is now one of the largest private universities in the UAE, currently educating over 3500 students in Dubai.
The event takes place between 3pm and 9pm at UOWD’s campus in Dubai Knowledge Village. The activities are open to all and free of charge. To register, please visit www.uowdubai.ac.ae.
