Profile:

The Mahatma Gandhi University in India was started on 2nd October 1983 and its Act and Statutes were enacted by the Kerala State Legislature vide notification No.3431/Leg C1/85/Law dated 17th April 1985. The University is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council   and the University Grants Commission (Statutory Authorities under Government of India). It is also a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities. It enrolls 1,50,000 students on an average every year to its 250 Courses in Graduate, Post Graduate, M.Phil and PhD programmes through 21 University Departments. The University Departments have commenced collaborative efforts with many foreign Universities. Within the territorial jurisdiction in the state of Kerala, India, the University has 260 Affiliated Colleges offering various technical and non – technical courses. The Mahatma Gandhi University has established its presence even outside its territorial jurisdiction through the Off-Campus Centers. The mission of the University in establishing Off- Campus Centers in the Gulf region is the imparting of Higher Education for expatriate Indian Community as well as foreigners at affordable fee. The vision of the University is to introduce various Innovative courses in addition to the conventional courses at present.

 

The Mahatma Gandhi University Off-Campus Academic Centre, Dubai International Academic City is the only Indian Government University Institution, operating from the TECOM Free zone, since the year 2003.Currently the Centre offers various Undergraduate and Post Graduate Courses of the Parent University in India (MAHATMA GANDHI UNIVERSITY). The off-campus Academic Programme of the University is based on the Scheme and Syllabi prescribed for the regular course of the University. The students who pass a particular course of study will be awarded with the same Degree Certificate issued to the students of the Parent University in India.   The students have option to continue their studies in India by way of Centre Transfer on getting necessary approval from the Parent University. This gives the students flexibility in doing the same course of study during an Academic year (August – June) through affiliated college of the Parent University in India or at the University teaching department. The process of University Examination is directly controlled by the Consul-Education attached to the office of the Consulate General of India in Dubai, UAE. By being a part of our campus the students are trained in academics and their college years are enlivened with colors of global, cultural and social activities that give them a competitive edge in today’s multicultural work atmospheres. The whole process of Examination, Evaluation and Certification are done through the Mahatma Gandhi University in India directly.
